Fáilte roimh sheoladh an phróiséis pleanála teanga

Fáiltíonn Comhchoiste Ghaeltacht Uíbh Ráthaigh roimh fhógra an Aire Stáit Donncha Mac Fhionnlaoich TD inniú go bhfuil tús oifigiúil á chur leis an bpróiséas pleanála teangan sna ceantair Gaeltachta. Cé nach bhfuil ach sé ceantar ainmnithe inniú tá súil ag CGUR go leathanófar an próiséas seo amach go gach ceantar Gaeltachta go luath.

Tá muintir Uíbh Ráthaigh tosnaithe i mbun próiséas pleanála cheana féin agus tacaíocht iontach á fháil againn ó ghrúpaí agus ó earnálacha éagsúla sa phobal atá sásta a gcuid ama, a gcuid tuairimí agus smaointí a roinnt go fiail chun tacú leis an bpróiséas.

Cé gur obair dhúshlánach atá i gceist leis an bpleanáil seo agus leis an gcur i bhfeidhm ina dhiaidh, táimid lán dáirire faoi. Tá réimhse leathan imeachtaí ar siúl go leanúnach sa cheantar cheana agus é in am anois tógaint ar an mbuncloch sin atá leagtha ag an bpobal seo do féin.

Táimid lán dóchasach go neireoidh linn spriocanna dúshlánacha, ciallmhara, réadúla a bhaint amach thar tréimse ama. Tá spiorad an mhithil soiléir le feiscint ón mbonn aníos le fada an lá sa cheantar.

Guímid gach rath ar an obair a bheidh idir lámha ag an sé ceantar atá ainmnithe inniú agus táimid ag súil go mór leis an lá ina mbeidh an t-aitheantas foirmeálta céanna á thabhairt go pobal Uíbh Ráthaigh.

Preas Ráiteas 26/04/12 Roinn Ealaíon, Oidhreachta & Gaeltachta ar fáil anseo.

Comhchoiste Ghaeltacht Uíbh Ráthaigh welcomes the announcement made today by the Minister of State, Donncha Mac Fhionnlaoich TD that the language planning process recommended in the 20 Year Strategy for the Irish Language is to begin officially now in the Gaeltacht areas. Although only six areas are beginning work on a pilot basis today, Comhchoiste Ghaeltacht Uíbh Ráthaigh hope that the process will be extended to all Gaeltacht areas very soon.

The people of Iveragh have already begun to work on the language planning process in the locality and huge support is being given by local groups and sectors of the community who are happy to share their valuable time, their recommendations and their thoughts in order to play a central role in informing the local process.

Even though this planning work is complicated, and we realise that the implementation of the plan will in turn be challenging, we are very earnest about what needs to be done. There are a wide range of language based events being organised on an ongoing basis in the area already and we look forward to being able to build upon this foundation in the coming months and years.

We are sincerely hopeful that we will achieve aims and targets relating to the Irish language in the area will be are challenging yet realistic over a period of time. The spirit of the “Meitheal” is and has been very strong in the locality always and this is a community which believes that bottom-up actions are the most efficient and effective way of achieving our goals.

We wish every success on the work which is being begun in the six communities named today and we are very much looking forward to the day when the same recognition and status is officially given to the Iveragh Gaeltacht community.
