Cúrsa Deireadh Seachtaine 7 & 8 Samhain

A Bit of Everything Weekend

Ag tosnú maidin Dé Sathairn beidh meascán de ranganna agus imeachtaí i gceist leis an gcúrsa seo a bheidh ar siúl ar an 7ú agus 8ú Samhain 2015.  Eolas breise ar fáil anseo nó ón oifig ar 066 9474888.

7 & 8 November, 2015 – Beginning on Saturday morning at 10.00 am with an introductory rang Gaeilge, this relaxed weekend is a combination of very accessible outdoor activities and Irish classes. You will follow in the footsteps of the ancient clergy on the newly developed Monks Trail in Ballinskelligs, and get a flavour of the conditions endured by local farmers travelling the Butter Road to deliver their produce for sale in Cork City. You will learn a local song or two and hear some of the tales of the reknowned folklorist Seán Ó Conaill at his home on the hillside village of Cill Rialaig. Lunch on Saturday and Sunday as well as evening meal on Saturday are included.

Mí na Fiontraíochta i gCiarraí – Seisiún Eolais do tháirgeoirí bídh

Mar chuid de Mí na Fiontraíochta i gCiarraí, tá seisiún eolais do tháirgeoirí bídh á eagrú againn ar an gCéadaoin seo chughainn, 11ú Márta 2015 in Oifig an Chomhchoiste, Ceann Eich lámh leis an gCoireán.

Rithfidh an seisiún ó 11 rn go 2 in ar an lá agus beidh béim ar leith á leagadh ar gnónna bídh ar an micra leibhéal.  Beidh áisitheoireacht á dhéanamh ar an seisiún ag Kieran O’Connor  ó Bullseye Food Marketing.  Tá eolas breise faoi chlár an lae ar fáil anseo.

Enterprise Month – Micro Food Production event

As part of Enterprise Month in Kerry, we are organising a food producer’s networking and information event on Wednesday next, 11th March 2015 in the Comhchoiste Office in Kenneigh, Waterville.

The session will run from 11 am to 2 pm on the day, will have a particular emphasis on micro food business, and will be facilitated by Kieran O’Connor of Bullseye Food Marketing. Among the topics to be covered by Kieran on the day are:

  • Why alternative enterprises are becoming more important in rural areas.
  • Be a Brand instead of a Commodity
  • What are our local resources?
  • Different types of food businesses:
  • Primary Production
  • Added Value Processing
  • Case Studies of Successful Micro-Food Businesses.
  • Key Steps in Starting a Micro Food Business

 There is also an opportunity for participants have a 20 minute 1-2-1 meeting to discuss their potential idea after the presentation.

Setting up a Men’s Shed – Facilitated Workshop

A facilitated workshop to help community groups in the locality who might be interested in establishing a men’s shed in their area will be held in the Comhchoiste, Ceann Eich on Thursday of next week, 12th March from 9.30 am – 1.00pm. This session is organised by SKDP and is to focus on two types of groups – groups who are thinking of starting the project from scratch alongside the Ballinskelligs group who have gone down the road of setting up a shed but who have run into some problems along the way.

If your local area is thinking of setting up a shed, or even if ye just want to find out a bit more about it before making any commitment, now is the chance to explore the idea a bit more!
