WINNING AWARDS

Over the years Comhchoiste Ghaeltacht Uíbh Ráthaigh has won many awards for our work in community development as well as the promotion of the Irish language.

In 2019 we won €2000 from Glór na nGael which was by sponsored by COGG, An Comhairle um Oideachas Gaeltachta agus Gaelscolaíochta.  In 2020 we won another prize from Glór na nGael of €3000 which was sponsored by the Health Service Executive in the category Sláinte Intinn agus Corp in recognition for our work with Family Carers.  This year we won a A European Language Seal from Léargas for our Irish Language Holidays initiative Saoire as Gaeilge which we have been running since 2013. In addition we won a gold award in the Kerry Community Awards 2017 for our work in promoting the Irish language and Irish heritage / culture).

Previously we won awards in the 2015 Glór na nGael competition - the Enterprise Award (for our cultural tourism project 'Irish Language Holidays') and the COGG Award (for our work in promoting the Irish language among young people).

We won two awards in the Kerry Community Awards 2014 - The Gaeltacht Prize and were among the 3 groups competing for the award for organisations that provide supports for people with specific needs in the community. In 2013 we won a Special Merit Award in the same competition.

In May 2012 it was announced that the Comhchoiste Ghaeltacht Uíbh Ráthaigh had won a prize of merit in the 2012 Irish Rural Link National Rural Competition. Congratulations to the main winners of the competition - Pastime Connamara and Kerry Life Skills and many thanks to IRL for organising the competition! We were delighted to hear that we had won the same prize in this national competition again in 2013.

At an event in the Drumhall Hotel, Killarney on Sunday 22 April 2012 we were presented with a merit award for organising and running Múscailt Uíbh Ráthaigh in November 2011. We were delighted to meet the special guest of the day, Miriam O 'Callaghan on that day too! This was the third year in a row that we have won a prize in these awards, something we are very proud of!

In February 2012 Glór na nGael awarded us a prize of €3,000 for the work we had done in promoting the Irish language. We were shortlisted from five committees from across the country for the top prize.

At the Glór na nGael event in Belfast in March 2010 the Comhchoiste Ghaeltacht Uíbh Ráthaigh was presented with the Gaeleagras Public Service Award.

For the second year running, the Comhchoiste Ghaeltacht Uíbh Ráthaigh was a great success in the 2011 Kerry Community Awards competition. On Sunday 10/04/2011, we were presented with the following awards at an event organised by Kerry County Council in the Hotel Dromhall in Killarney:

1st prize in the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Division

Gaeltacht Award

Secondary award in the Heritage Section

We were delighted that we were given the opportunity to meet with the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese in July 2011 because we were among the winning groups in the competition. It was a great privilege and we would like to thank the Community & Voluntary Section in KCC for organising this wonderful event.
